Assessing the Effectiveness of Multidisciplinary Learning Environments in Fostering Global Citizenship Skills
Abstract
As the world becomes increasingly interconnected and interdependent, the need for individuals to possess global
citizenship skills has become imperative. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of multidisciplinary learning
environments in fostering these essential skills among students. Global citizenship skills encompass a range of
competencies, including intercultural understanding, critical thinking, collaboration, and a sense of responsibility
towards global challenges. The research employs a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative and
quantitative data collection methods. The study involves students from diverse academic disciplines participating in
a multidisciplinary learning environment designed to enhance global citizenship skills. The curriculum integrates
elements from various disciplines, encouraging students to explore complex global issues collaboratively.
Quantitative data will be gathered through pre- and post-assessment surveys to measure changes in students' global
citizenship skills. Qualitative data will be obtained through interviews, focus group discussions, and reflective essays
to provide a nuanced understanding of the impact of the multidisciplinary approach on students' perceptions and
experiences
