The Role of International Policies in Addressing Global Environmental Challenges
Abstract
The contemporary world is confronted with an array of pressing environmental challenges that transcend national
borders, necessitating collaborative and comprehensive solutions. This paper explores the pivotal role of
international policies in addressing these global environmental challenges. Drawing on an interdisciplinary
approach, the study investigates the interconnected nature of environmental issues and the imperative for
coordinated action on a global scale. The first section examines the scope and gravity of prominent environmental
challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss, deforestation, and pollution. It underscores the transboundary
nature of these issues and their far-reaching consequences, emphasizing the need for concerted efforts to mitigate
their impact. The second section delves into the historical evolution of international environmental policies,
highlighting key milestones and frameworks that have shaped the global response to environmental challenges. This
includes the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the Convention on Biological
Diversity (CBD), and the Paris Agreement, among others
